What is Vrikshawali and what work does it do?
Vrikshawali is a government registered NGO that is on a mission to add greenery on Earth and in the process create environmental awareness.

Where are the trees planted?
We work directly with individuals, corporates and educational institutions to select planting sites where where trees are needed most.

How does Vrikshawali partner with corporate sector?
We work closely with corporations and small businesses to support their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs. We identify the areas where plantation is need, source the saplings, plants the saplings and monitors sapling survival.

Do you give a certificate for planting trees?
As soon as you plant a tree, you are given an elegantly designed certificate of appreciation for your commitment to conserve the environment.

Which trees are usually planted?
The type of trees planted depends upon climatic conditions. We plant all types of trees like Neem, Peepal, Gulmohar, Kesia, Jamun, Belgiri, Molshiri, Ashoka etc. that are well-known for their unique properties of purifying the atmosphere and creating clean air or breathing.

Can I choose the type of tree I want to be planted?
We allow you to choose the plant. However, we do discuss with you, what species is best suited to the conditions in the area of plantation.

When do you usually plant trees?
While this is an all-around-the-year process, most plantations of saplings take place during the Indian monsoon season (July-August-September) in order to ensure higher survivability.

I don’t know where I can plant trees. Can you help?
You can plant saplings in the following places:

  • In your own home/apartment compounds
  • Public places (parks, open spaces, street footpaths, street medians – any government-owned space. However, it is worth a mention here that in each of these places, official permissions are required to plant the saplings.

If I contribute to Vrikshawali through my company's CSR program, how do I know utilization about my contribution?
As per our policy, for any amount of contribution received from our corporate donors, Vrikshawali is committed to notifying them about the plantation of their trees. The notification includes – sharing of plant photo alongwith its location on Google maps. This process ensures transparency in our operations and also notifies donors about the utilization of their funds.

I am a school / college going student. Can I contribute in the cause of tree planting?

  • You can raise awareness about the importance of tree plantation in your school or college through through peer-to-peer education.
  • You can seek permission of school authorities to hold a tree plantation programme in the compound of your school.
  • Along with your teachers and other students, you can take an oath to look after the planted saplings, plant more and more trees and encourage others to do the same.

Can my company gift a tree to employees?
Yes, you may gift a sapling to every member of your staff or you may give a tree gift to honour star performers of your organization.
