Vrikshawali is an environmental NGO that works in the area of protection and conservation of the environment. The organization is on a mission to create a greener, cleaner and healthier environment so that the future generations get a better and greener planet.
The not-for-profit does more than putting a seed in the ground; we make sure these saplings survive for future generations. We conduct vigorous tree plantation drives at various housing societies, school and college campus’, public etc. and consistently dedicate our time and resources to nurturing them on an almost daily basis.
When the NGO is not planting trees, it is working with local schools and colleges, educating the students on protecting trees and the dangers of tree cutting, and organizing plantation drives and environmental awareness programmes.
The NGO is especially active Jaipur. So far, thousands of trees have been planted since Vrikshawali’s inception by Dr.Pooja Goyal in 2016 and the NGO intends to plant a billion trees by 2025.
What is the purpose of planting a billion trees?
Trees holistically contribute so much to our community, and ask little in return. Besides looking beautiful, trees bring numerous benefits to our daily lives. While cities are getting hotter and hotter, trees cool the urban temperatures. They provide habitat and food for thousands of plant and animal species. Beyond removal of pollution, the presence of well-maintained trees provides additional direct and indirect benefits to human health and wellness.
A billion trees planted can help save the planet from climate change and biodiversity loss. We know that a billion trees is a huge target, but we know we can achieve it together. Let us invest in trees to create sustainable cities with happier and healthier people.
