Join us on our journey that started with the pure love for trees and the environment, and led us into taking the concept of tree plantation to another level!
Starting around the locality, in 2012 Dr. Pooja Goyal planted some large trees that could attract birds, and provide shade. Initially she drove the initiative all by herself; she was accompanied by her husband and children in her efforts to care for the environment. After clearing the area of weeds, she took upon herself to plant trees and care for them. In time, she became increasingly determined to plant more trees in and around the area. Carrying a canister full of water, she not only tended the saplings, but planted new ones too outside. Using her own resources and savings for the plantation drives, with contributions from some of her friends, she took it upon herself to plant as many trees as she could within a radius of 1 km around her house. She successfully packed her locality with greenery.
On seeing her work towards keeping the environment healthy, others in the locality also joined the initiative. Soon, a major tree plantation drive began, and Vrikshawali took birth in 2016, giving a more aggressive push to her efforts. The NGO as registered as a non-profit organisation under the Rajasthan Society Act.
